Trevor Fox Memorial Children's Park
The Trevor Fox Memorial Children's Park opened on Saturday, September 18th, The park is adjacent to US HWY 730 and Eighth St., Irrigon, Oregon. Bring the kids and check out Irrigon's new park!
In 2008, as a result of citizen
enquiry, the City of Irrigon City Council authorized the use of a
city owned lot for the creation of a Children's Park.
The Irrigon Children's Park was
envisioned as a public use facility geared toward community children
that are younger than users of the Don Baxter Skate Park.
The lot next to the Skate Park, along
Highway 730, was selected to be the site of the park. The Park was designed using modern design and safety practices as well as complying with ADA access requirements.
City Council authorized the
formation of a Children's Park Comittee and tasked it with creating a
park mission statement, bylaws, park project specifics, funding. The
committee was tasked with holding regular meetings and keeping
meeting minutes.
In September of 2009, The Irrigon Children's Park received a matching grant from Oregon State Parks and Recreation in the amount of $193,000!
The park was principally financed
using private funds and grants.
